    • Rhome ... Mary Lou Livengood, 74, of Rhome died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at her home.

      She was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Decatur to Carl W. and Ruth Bennett Slay. She was raised on a farm in Wise County and graduated from Rhome High School in 1942. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 1945. She married John T. Livengood Jr. Aug. 28, 1954.

      She worked for Evans and Associates advertising agency in Fort Worth for 10 years. She also did freelance work with her own part-time business.

      She was active in PTA, Camp Fire, the TCU Quinq Club, and the Wise County Spirit of Christmas drive. She was a charter member of the Rhome Women's Club and served as its first president. She was a member of the first board of directors for the Rhome Library and was a lifetime member of the Avondale Community Club. She helped put together bike-a-thons for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and volunteered at Christ's Haven for Children. For more than 50 years, she was a Sunday school teacher at the Rhome Church of Christ, where she also taught Vacation Bible School and Ladies' Bible Class.

      Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Rhome Church of Christ. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery.

      Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.

      Memorials may be made to Christ's Haven for Children in Keller and to the Molly Livengood Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4, Rhome, Texas 76078.

      Survivors include her husband of Rhome; a daughter, Ann Watkins of Rhome; and two granddaughters.

      She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Carl W. Slay Jr. and her youngest daughter, Molly Livengood Carter.
