    • David Roy Colvin, Sr, 56, of Pensacola died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb 25, 1993, in a local hospital.

      Mr Colvin was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola. He was married to the former Thelma E Russ and they had three sons, all of whom are living and residents of the area, David, II, Greg and Rodney.

      Mr Colvin served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class from the US Air Force in 1957. After discharge from he service, he served this area as a letter carrier with the US Post Office until his medical retirement in 1980.

      Mr Colvin received Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1976 and became a member of Smyrna Baptist church, which he attended until his death.

      Mr Colvin was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Escambia Lodge No 15, in 1984. he served the lodge as its Worshipful Master in 1990 and was serving as it's Junior Warden at the time of his death. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, A Knight Templar in the York Rite and a member of the Zelca Grotto.

      Survivors include Mr Colvin's wife and three sons; three daughter-in-law, Cheryl, Gail and Jennifer Colvin, his mother, Bettie Cofield Colvin; four sisters, Betty Cain, Peggy Adams, Carolyn Huggins and Dianna Zschiedrich; six granddaughters, Anna, Stephanie, Rachel, Leah, Amber and Heather.

      At the time of his death, Mr Colvin was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandson in March.

      Funeral services will be at 9 am Monday, March 1, 1993, in Smyrna Baptist church on Highway 29 with the Rev Roy Julian, DD, officiating.

      Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery with Waters and Hibbert Funeral Holmes directing.

      Military honors and Masonic services will be conducted at the graveside. Escambia Lodge No 15 will open one hour prior to the church services.

      Pallbearers will be David R Colvin II, Steven Gregory Colvin, Rodney D Colvin, B M Baisden, Gregory D Smith and Steven Mahan.

      Honorary pallbearers will be officers and brethren of Escambia Lodge No 15 and the members of the Memorial Team for the First Masonic District.

      Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 pm Sunday.

      Those desiring to furnish memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to make donations to the Missionary Fund of Smyrna Baptist church in the name of David R Colvin Sr.
