    • Rites Are Held for J E Bonner

Funeral services for J E Bonner, 64 year old pioneer resident of the Panhandle, were conducted Saturday afternoon from Blackburn-Shaw Funeral home with Dr C C Grimes pastor of the Polk Street Methodist Church officiating.

Following the services here, the body was taken to Dimmitt for burial.

Mr Bonner died suddenly Friday afternoon from a heart ailment. He became ill in South Amarillo and while en route to see a doctor, became worse. An ambulance was called but Mr Bonner died before reaching the hospital.

Coming to the Plains in 1905, he was a farmer until 1925, when he entered the hotel business at Canyon. Seven years ago he established Bonner's Dining Room here, a business from which he recently retired.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Duffie Bonner, two sons, Joe of Sunray, and Levon of Amarillo; a daughter, Mrs W D Anderson of Amarillo, and three brothers and three sisters, including Mrs W H Carroll of Seagraves.
