    • Mrs J L Vaughan Dies Here Last Friday Morning

After several years of feeble health, Mrs J L Vaughan died at her home on S Oak Street early Friday AM, January 2, 1925.

However, during her years of feeble health she had been reasonably active and had good use of her mental faculties to the very end. The funeral services were held at the residence, Saturday afternoon by Reverend McKinley Norman, her pastor, assisted by Reverend T W W Black, who was her pastor for 16 years and the body was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery by the side of her husband who died February 18, 1919.

Mrs Vaughan was born in Jackson, Tennessee April 12, 1847 being nearly 78 years old at the time of her death. She was just entering womanhood when the Civil War broke out between the states and she experienced many hardships of warfare. She lived in the path of "Sherman's March to the Sea" and all who have heard from mouth to mouth of this affair know well what she witnessed and suffered. On April 17, 1873 she married J L Vaughan in Tennessee and moved to Georgia, where she lived for several years. After leaving Georgia she moved to Alabama where she lived a short time and then settled in Fort Worth. About 1982 moved to Graham where she has lived since.

She was converted and joined the Baptist Church in Georgia in 1884 was a faithful and devoted member of this church for the rest of her life about 40 years. She was a regular attendant upon the services of the church as long as her health permitted. She read her Bible regularly and received comfort and consolation from her study of the Word. She would go alone often and commune with her Savior.

She lived a beautiful life and her influence will reside long in the community in which she has lived since 1892.
